Outpouring of Aid for Katrina Victims;
ANAC Prepares for Second Decade |
ANAC member colleges and universities contributed in varied and impressive ways to address the needs of hurricane victims on the Gulf Coast and to provide options for students at hurricane-damaged campuses in New Orleans. ANAC members offered admission to students whose campuses are closed this fall for repairs. Some took the generous step of rebating these students’ tuition and fees back to their home campus to help ease the devastating financial burden of recovery. ANAC members held fundraising events, clothing and food drives, and prayer services. Individual students, faculty, and staff members volunteered to provide relief in hurricane-ravaged areas and sold books and works of art in making individual contributions.

Several activities and events symbolize
the anniversary
of one ANAC decade and preparations for the next. The new ANAC logo and design of a more dynamic and interactive “new look” website, signify the latter. An “ANAC Decade” reception to be held on January 27, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel during the AAC&U annual conference, will honor the former—featuring recognition of several friends of ANAC and the first showing of a multi-media ANAC Decade DVD. Mark your calendars! |

A busy schedule of ANAC affinity group meetings next year testify to active member engagement as ANAC enters its second decade:
- January 25 – ANACSA: Study abroad directors and chief academic officers meeting just prior to annual AAC&U conference, Washington, DC
- January 27 – ANAC Academy meeting during AAC&U conference, Washington, DC
- January 28 – Institutional representatives meeting immediately following adjournment of AAC&U conference
- February 6 – Presidents Council pre-NAICU conference meeting, Washington, DC
- March 13 – Student affairs officers breakfast meeting during NASPA conference, Washington, DC
- March 23-25 – Annual ANAC CFO benchmarking conference, University of Redlands
- June 14-16 – ANAC Summer Institute (June 14 - Institutional representatives summer meeting), North Central College
- July 8 – Summer CFO Meeting, NACUBO conference, Honolulu, Hawaii (tentative)
