site: www.center.rpi.edu)
has announced a November 15, 2000 deadline for those planning to
submit institutional readiness statements for Round III participation
in the Pew Grant Program in Course Redesign (first step in application
process). Statements should be single-spaced and a maximum of eight
pages with no attachments of any kind and must be submitted by the

Word format in a file naming the institution, followed by _IRC.
Five paper copies should also be submitted to Pat Bartscherer, 17

submissions are due on November 15. Plans are to notify the 40 institutions
by early December that will be invited to participate in the January
11-12 Round III workshop in New Orleans.
National
Academy for Academic Leadership Sponsors Workshop for Chief Academic
and Chief Financial Officers,
November 19-22

The National Academy is offering a workshop
in cooperation with NACUBO and AGB from November 19-22, "Academic
Change and Strategic Resource Allocation," at the Don CeSar
Beach Resort and Spa at St. Pete Beach in Florida. This event will
focus on team-building involving chief academic and financial officers,
and, as appropriate, the president and one or more board members.
Working with experienced practitioners and scholars, participants
will pursue these workshop goals:
- Relate resource allocation issues to academic initiatives,
- Analyze real costs
- Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work together
in the design and implementation of significant institutional
change, and
- Develop within each team a shared language and common values.
In preparing for the workshop, participants and selected colleagues
will complete a survey questionnaire on budget and resource allocation
on their campus as a resource for team discussion and planning during
the workshop. For more information, costs, and registration details,
go to http://www.thenationalacademy.org/Programs/caocfo00.html.
National
School & Community Corps Invites ANAC Student Participation

Rapid program expansion in New Jersey and
the cities of Philadelphia and Baltimore means attractive Americorps
opportunities for ANAC students and graduates to gain valuable inner-city
professional experiences and to serve America. Americorps participants
work in school and in nonprofit arts and community development organizations
whose mission is to upgrade the education and quality of life of
inner-city residents. Participation may occur during the summer
or school year in a variety of paid positions. The National School
& Community Corps of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation has been remarkably
successful, combining serious purpose and high morale.
Please call the program to the attention of students seeking to
combine a service learning and professional experience in the inner-city.
It's not too early now to plan for next summer and next year. For
further information, visit the NSCC web site (www.woodrow.org/nscc)
