Questions and Answers for Study Away Advisors
Why is ANACSA good for my students?
- Reasonable Cost: Costs for most ANACSA programs are set in most cases so that students can pay their usual semester tuition at their home institution (and a standard "study away" fee, if their institution charges one).
- Quality Programs: ANACSA programs offer more than the average study abroad program. All of them include some combination of the following components, with costs included in the program fee: Field studies, Community projects, Internships, Guided travel, Service Learning
- Ease of Credit Transfer: Credits earned during a semester abroad through ANACSA are guaranteed to transfer back to the student’s home institution.
Why is ANACSA beneficial to my institution?
Because ANACSA institutions reserve spaces “at cost” for ANAC students, the cost of sending a student on an ANACSA program is close to what it costs an institution to send a student on a program that it runs itself. Yet member institutions don't need to develop the infrastructure and relationships abroad necessary to sponsor their own programs in locations where ANACSA programs already exist. And, with ANACSA, Study Abroad Advisors know that the programs are offered by sister institutions with similar goals and quality standards.
At the same time, institutions that operate their own study abroad programs can broaden their market and increase student enrollment, thus increasing the viability of programs they offer. In the case of exchange programs, this may also mean being able to welcome more students from abroad.
