| PLU garnered a prestigious ranking – the highest in the country – from the Sustainable Endowments Institute, which released its College Sustainability Report Card for 2010. PLU was one of only 26 colleges or universities to receive an overall A- mark, the highest grade awarded this year. This mark is the same as notable institutions like the University of Washington, Stanford, Yale and Harvard. PLU’s newest facility addition, the Martin J. Neeb Center, was also certified LEED Gold. The building houses the NPR affiliate station KPLU and is the only radio facility in the nation with a LEED Gold ranking. |

| PLU is on its way to upgrading its Rieke Science Center. A nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer – one of the first of its kind located in a West Coast undergraduate institution - was recently installed in the building, giving PLU chemists the opportunity to analyze samples at a molecular level. Undergraduate students, who usually do not have access to such a powerful instrument, will find that having used the spectrometer will assist them in their academic career and help them land jobs. The NMR is one of $6 million in upgrades planned for the facility. |
